This view from Soquel Drive in downtown Soquel was taken circa 1912, looking up the hill toward the Daubenbiss house. Above it is the home of John's younger brother, Henry Daubenbiss, who arrived in 1853 to work in one of the family's mills. Both brothers were natives of Bavaria. Henry, who served ten years on the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors, dropped one "s" from his last name, thereby confusing historians later on.
