Pictures related to Capitola's incorporation in 1949

  • City Council 1950 -- Two council members had already resigned and been replaced by the time this photo was taken in the spring of 1949. From left: Brad Macdonald, Joe Tabacchini, Harry Bowles, Harlan Kessler, Col. Russell Tripp, and City Clerk Guy Bigbee posed in front of the temporary city hall on Monterey Avenue across from the Capitola Theater.
  • Capitola City Hall --   A booklet describing how Capitola became a city was published two years after the incorporation of 1949. The city hall building on the cover is on the same site as the present Capitola City Hall at 420 Capitola Avenue
  • Stockton and Capitola Avenue -- A view of Stockton and Capitola Avenues.

More city incorporation history can be found in the Historic Context Statement for the City of Capitola, visible online under the Community Development tab at http://www.ci.capitola.ca.us.
