New Exhibition
Take Me Out to Capitola: The Life and Times of Harry Hooper
Opening Reception: Saturday, March 22, 2014

Baseball star Harry Hooper (1887-1974) called Capitola home for over 60 years.  As a member of the Boston Red Sox, he played on four world championship teams between 1912 and 1918.  At home in Capitola, he served as Capitola Postmaster, president of the Chamber of Commerce, and played a major role in shaping the history of Capitola from the 1920s to 1960s.  By all accounts, Harry was smart (had a degree in engineering), humble, generous, and had a great sense of humor.  Come and explore Harry Hooper's world, on and off the baseball field, through the first-ever museum-wide exhibition on this hall-of-fame member.
